Careers

The Career Committee, founded in the 2025–2026 academic year, is dedicated to helping students explore the many paths that lead from the arts and culture programs at Leiden University into the professional world.

Throughout the year, the committee shares vacancies, internships, and other opportunities relevant to our field, and conducts interviews with professionals and alumni to offer insight into the day‑to‑day realities of working in GLAMs and beyond.

The aim is to make career development approachable, transparent, and genuinely connected to the interests of our members.

Furthermore, in the spring the committee organises a special career event that brings together students, alumni, and professionals for an afternoon of conversations, presentations, and informal networking.

This year’s edition will take place on Wednesday 13 May at TROEF – contemporary art space in Leiden, where speakers from across the cultural sector will share their experiences and offer guidance on navigating the early stages of a career in the arts. The event concludes with a relaxed borrel, giving you the chance to build your network in an open and welcoming environment. Sign up here to attend!

Below, you can find a selection of interviews conducted by the Career Committee, featuring professionals and alumni from across the cultural field. Each interview highlights the experiences, challenges, and insights that shape life after studying art history, giving you a clearer sense of the possibilities that lie ahead.
